The AirPods Pro 2 will appear at an Apple event this week

According to a report from Apple tracker Mark Gurman, Apple is set to reveal the second generation of AirPods Pro at its “Far Out” event on Wednesday. We’re expecting the AirPods Pro 2 sometime this year, with the first solid rumor suggesting they could launch this week.

“The new AirPods Pro will update the model that first went on sale in October 2019,” Gurman said. Power on The newsletter reads. “I reported last year that the new AirPods Pro would arrive in 2022, and now I’m told their big unveiling will be on Wednesday.”

The AirPods Pro 2 are rumored to come with several upgrades, including Apple’s next-generation H1 processor. There’s also the potential for higher quality sound by adding Bluetooth 5.2 support, using Apple’s Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC), which eliminates Bluetooth altogether, or the LC3 codec, which uses the LC3 codec to transmit audio more efficiently. The AirPods Pro 2 may also adopt the in-ear wing tip design of the Beats Fit Pro Sport and come with a charging case that emits a sound when searching for it with Apple’s Find My app.

In addition to the new AirPods Pro, Apple is also expected to reveal the iPhone 14 and a trio of new watches at its event, including an expensive “rugged” model for athletes who participate in extreme sports.
