Apple has a Will Smith problem.
The New York Times Reporting a lose-lose situation at Apple on release liberation, The $120 million Civil War drama starring Will Smith wrapped filming a month before Smith took the stage at the Oscars in March and slapped Chris Rock:
“If they sidestep the movie, will that tarnish Apple’s image? Is release defamatory? … Hollywood likes a win-win situation. It’s a loss-loss.”
The film generated an “overwhelmingly positive response” at private audience screenings NYT’s Sources described Smith’s performance as “volcanic”. Some are pushing for the film to be released before the end of the year to make it eligible for awards consideration.
